Hawaii
What a great visit we had with the family in Hawaii. Katie was just the perfect age to enjoy playing with her cousins.

Whenever they would leave she would ask where her sisters went. That is exactly what they looked like, 3 sisters. She loved trying to keep up with them in Hula class,

splashing in the ocean and swimming in the pool, but the highlight was when Uncle Kirk took her "surfing" so she could look at the reef fish.

She still talks about seeing the turtle that was "this big!"

Day trip to Monterey
I let myself become a victim of peer pressure. I wanted to go the the Meet in the Middle rally here in Fresno on Saturday, but my friend Lisa talked me into leaving the 100 degree weather and heading to Monterey for the day. I *think* I've been to Monterey before...but I really didn't remember it at all. Katie loved Dennis the Menace park. I loved the fresh air...oh and the clam chowder!!
Engelmann Cellars
Every other Friday in the summer Engelmann Cellars, a local winery, invites families out for wine tasting and picnic. Such a lovely location and wonderful wine! Katie and Bella had a great time running on their big lawn. The Engelman family even invited us all to stay after the winery closed and watch a movie on their big screen. A perfect way to spend a summer evening.
BTW, the adults shared a bottle of their Summer Quartet, YUMM!

Katie and Vinnie

These two are quite a pair. Vinnie is the neighborhood cat. He technically belongs to our neighbors, but he roams the neighborhood like he owns it. He comes running whenever he hears Katie in the yard. Most days we return home from playing or running errands and find him sitting in the shade on our front mat waiting for Katie. Katie bosses him around, and in typical feline fashion, he does what he wants, which most of the time is rubbing up against Katie's legs or flopping down in front of her for some belly rubs.

Oh, the drama...
Katie was really protesting going to bed tonight.
We did your usual routine...bath, books, a song, nightlight on...I walked out of the room and she called, "Mommy, I need water, I'm thirsty."
There is water on her nightstand, so I ignored it.
"I'm THIRSTY!"
Ignored it.
"I'm not tired."
"Mommy, I'm not tired!"
"I'm COLD!"
I go in and cover her up with her blanket.
"I'm COLD!"
Ignore it.
"I'm SICK"
"I'm SICK!"
"Mommy I'm SICK!"
(I'm not buying any of it.)
Finally, "MOMMY!!! I'M DEAD!!!"
Oh, the drama.
